SUSTAINABILITY

Reduce Energy and Resource Consumption

Increase Economic Performance

Kwik-Build Panels replace multiple materials with single piece panels, reducing jobsite scrap and minimizing fuel consumption that multiple freight deliveries would require. The durability, advanced thermal and moisture protection qualities promote energy efficiency and reduce maintenance requirements. Panels will last the life of the structure, minimizing the need for replacement, require no maintenance, and decrease the need for toxic mold remediation.

  • HVAC requirements will be reduced.
  • EPS insulation does not contain ozone-depleting CFCs or HCFCs.
  • By weight, steel is the most recycled material in the world.
  • As a wood conserving strategy, remember that it takes roughly 40 trees to build a 2,000 SF home, but takes roughly 6 junk scrap cars to build the same home with steel.

Kwik Build Panels’ features do not stop at energy efficiency, stable, long-term R-values and lower operational/maintenance costs for the life of structures. As important, is building structures which are more durable, with increased resistance to natural disasters such as: fires, wind and hail storms, flood and seismic events.

High Recycled Content: The steel-based panels contain a total recycled content of at least 85%

Advanced Thermal: Kwik-Build Panels eliminate the presence of moisture in the wall cavity, eliminating the risk of harmful molds.

Jobsite Waste Eliminated: Kwik-Build Panels are pre-fabricated offsite according to architectural plans, with no job site waste generated.

Miscellaneous:

Lower heating and cooling costs.

Panels require no maintenance and are extremely durable, with a realistic service life for the entire duration of the structure.

No healthcare issues – at point of fabrication or at jobsite- the hypoallergenic panels produce no toxic off-gassing

EPS Green Building Credits

EPS is a cost effective and extremely versatile insulating material used to achieve increased energy savings. Of the numerous green building programs recognized in the U.S. and Canada, similar criteria for evaluating environmental attributes have two major considerations: material selection and long-term building performance.

Possible LEED® Points – Cold-Formed Steel Framing Products

MR Credit 2.1 & 2.2: Construction Waste Management: Divert from Disposal (2 Possible Points)

MR Credit 2.1 Requirements (1 Point) Recycle and/or salvage at least 50% of non-hazardous construction and demolition debris.
MR Credit 2.2 Requirements (1 Point in addition to MR Credit 2.1) Recycle and/or salvage an additional 25% beyond MR Credit 2.1 (75% total) of non-hazardous construction and demolition debris.

MR Credit 4.1 & 4.2: Recycled Content: Post-consumer + 1/2 Pre-consumer (2 Possible Points*)

MR Credit 4.1 Requirements (1 Point) Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (based on cost) of the total value of the materials in the project.z
MR Credit 4.2 Requirements (1 Point in addition to MR Credit 4.1) Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes an additional 10% beyond MR Credit 4.1 (total of 20%, based on cost) of the total value of the materials in the project.

*In addition to the 2 points listed above for recycled content, an additional point is available under the Innovation in Design credit, if the project has a total recycled content value greater than 30%.

MR Credit 5.1 & 5.2: Regional Materials: Extracted, Processed & Manufactured Regionally (2 Possible Points)

MR Credit 5.1 Requirements (1 Point) Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value.
MR Credit 5.2 Requirements (1 Point in addition to MR Credit 5.1) Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for an additional 10% beyond MR Credit 5.1 (total of 20%, based on cost) of the total materials value.
